Heather
Ross
Heather brings a diverse
transactional and litigation practice to Ross & Zuckerman LLP
and a vested, personal interest to infertility issues. Prior to
forming Ross & Zuckerman, LLP, Heather worked for the Legal
Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago, IL, one of the preeminent
not-for-profit legal aide organizations in the country. At the Legal
Assistance Foundation, Heather concentrated her practice on representing
low-income clients in various civil matters, including family law
and juvenile court. Heather was also the director of the Woman’s
Law Project, which focused on educational outreach and advocacy
work on behalf of low wage working women. Before her work at the
Legal Assistance Foundation, Heather spent three years in private
practice primarily engaged in the drafting and negotiation of complex
financial transactions. After experiencing several years of personal
struggles with infertility, including several rounds of IVF and
miscarriage, Heather co-founded Ross & Zuckerman LLP to focus
her energy and legal practice on helping others struggling with
these same issues. Since forming Ross & Zuckerman LLP in 2005,
Heather has dedicated her legal career solely to issues regarding
infertility, and has represented intended parents, egg donors, sperm
donors, parties in surrogacy arrangements, and fertility clinics.
As a legal aid attorney dealing with life impacting issues for almost
a decade, several years of practice in contract negotiation, and
personal experience with infertility, Heather brings to her practice
compassion and understanding to the many challenges facing all participants
in assisted reproductive technology.
Heather
received her Juris Doctorate, Magna Cum Laude from the University
of Illinois College of law and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Indiana
University with a joint degree in Political Science and the School
of Public and Environmental Affairs. She also currently serves as
co-chair to the Advisory Council of Women Employed, and is a professional
member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and RESOLVE.
Nora
Zuckerman
Prior to forming Ross &
Zuckerman LLP, Nora worked for 8 years at the Legal Assistance Foundation
of Metropolitan Chicago, one of the preeminent not-for-profit legal
aide organizations in the country. At the Legal Assistance Foundation,
Nora represented low-income clients in a variety of civil matters,
including family law and consumer law. Nora was also a Senior Attorney
with the Home Ownership Preservation Project where she represented
victims of predatory lending practices in foreclosures, tax sales
and bankruptcy. In addition, Nora conducted community outreach to
educate homeowners about the dangers of predatory lending. Since forming
Ross & Zuckerman LLP in 2005, Nora has dedicated her practice
to issues regarding infertility, and has represented intended parents,
egg donors, sperm donors, parties in surrogacy arrangements, and fertility
clinics. Nora
received her Juris Doctorate from Washington University School of
Law and her bachelors degree from the University of Wisconsin –
Madison. She currently serves on the Luggage for Freedom committee
of the National Council of Jewish Women which assists women and
children residing in domestic violence shelters. She is also a member
of RESOLVE and a professional member of the American Society for
Reproductive Medicine.
